Housing Related Support Programme

team

Offers befriending, advocacy, emotional and practical support to women and families who are vulnerable and may be in need of support to address parenting issues, access services and activities in the community. Children are offered one to one support from our dedicated Children’s Worker and families are supported to participate in processes such as Common Assessment Framework and Child Protection.

Our Children’s Worker facilitates the Venus Juniors Group each Thursday evening 4-5pm for children of parents engaging with our Families at Risk Programme. Referrals to this group should be made via support workers.

Christmas arrangements at Venus

Ho! Ho! Ho! It's almost Christmas, we are busy little elves in all of our centres this week, wrapping the wonderful presents that kind people from all over the region have donated so that the families and individuals we support are able to share some seasonal joy.  We're preparing for the different Christmassy events we have planned and so our opening times will reflect this.

There are no drop in's this week and we have limited availability for our Gateway open access at Venus for general advice and support.  One to one support will, of course, continue.

Venus Turns Orange for End Violence Against Women campaign

On the 17thDecember 1999, the United Nations General Assembly designated 25 November as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and invited governments, international organizations to organize activities designed to raise public awareness of the problem on that day.

Women's activists have marked 25th November as a day against violence since 1981. This date came from the brutal assassination in 1960, of the three Mirabal sisters, political activists in the Dominican Republic, on orders of Dominican ruler Rafael Trujillo (1930-1961).
