A consortium of agencies and organisations led by Venus has successfully bid for funding to open and maintain a Care Leavers’ Centre in Sefton.

So we’re busy recruiting workers, finding the right venue for the centre and consulting with care leavers and young people in care about how they would like it to be managed and run.  We hope to have the staff in place in early September and the Centre to be open as soon as possible.

The new Care Leaver’s Centre will enable young people working towards leaving care to develop the skills they need to live independently and successfully. There will be training and information available, space to practice living skills like washing, ironing and preparing meals so that care leavers can feel comfortable and confident when approaching their adult lives.
