Venus PlayAway at Skipton

Venus PlayAway at Skipton

During the first weekend of June, Venus accompanied the Sefton Play Council on a residential to Yorkshire at the popular Play Away resort for the weekend.

We had barely made our beds on Friday night before the kids were in the outdoor heated pool swimming and the staff having a long overdue cup of tea. The resort is surrounded by acres of green fields and even has a mini farm equipped with guinea pigs, rabbits and chickens where the kids spent many happy afternoons!

On Saturday the storm came but it didn’t stop us and we still enjoyed an afternoon out in Skipton town where we got absolutely drenched. Not to be disheartened some of the kids took off to the waterfalls and some stayed and practiced the much-anticipated play they had prepared for Saturday nights entertainment. Saturday night saw more torrential rain and an indoor disco with some very interesting dance moves from both the kids and the staff!

By the Sunday even the over excitable kids were exhausted. After one last dip in the pool we were all aboard the Morgan Foundation Venus Smiley Bus back to Venus and most of the kids were sleeping soundly. The weekend was truly exhausting but was totally worth it to see the smiles it brought to all their faces.

One residential down, one to go!
