Our Parent to Parent Volunteer Support Programme is a service commissioned by Halton Borough Council to offer parents/carers and their families a high level of support through trained volunteers and partnership work across the Borough of Halton.  This support provides information and choices through a non-judgemental and friendly "whole family" approach, to help build confidence and provide opportunities.  We empower families to make positive changes to take control of their lives and address any barriers.  The support we offer to families is both emotional and practical and tailored to the needs of the family.

We recruit volunteers through schools, children's centres and the wider community who participate in an 8 week training course to enable them to deliver support through outreach home visiting to families.

Families are supported to build positive relationships in the community, raise self esteem and confidence, develop coping skills and resilience, become more involved in their children's development, improve parenting, routines and like skills.  In addition, families develop improved access to services, especially health, access to training and community activities and are supported through issues such as domestic abuse and substance misuse.

Workers on this programme are Clare Kavanagh, Louise Hicks and Carlie Machell
