Hi all! So it’s January and we’re all back in work, full of roast dinner and ready to take on 2015! However before we get on to the future, we’d just like to take a moment and look back on the Christmas season to say a MASSIVE thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, spread the word, came along and generally helped make Our Place’s first Christmas one to remember!
It was a lovely, sunny August Thursday morning that 14 parent/carers, workers and excited kids from the Venus Centre in Bootle all the way to the wilds of Knowsley Safari Park.
On arrival at the Park, we were met by a smiling, welcoming committee who gave us our tickets along with instructions on how to access our wristbands and packed lunches then sent us off into the park on our Safari Adventure, waving at the happy kids as we went.
During the summer holiday period, here at Venus we try to raise additional funds to our everyday funded services so that we can provide opportunities for families to spend some quality time together, enjoying new experiences and going to new places.
Over 130 Mums and Kids have just returned from the Venus Annual Summer Residential 2014 in sunny Presthaven Sands.
We arrived at the site on Monday afternoon and after a relatively smooth check in process followed by a short time familiarising ourselves with the site, happy and excited mums and kids started to relax and enjoy the amenities of the park in Welsh sunshine.
We've posted before about our Social Work Student Placements and how helpful they are to the work we do. Maeve recently left us after her placement and we asked her to share her thoughts and experiences with us here. We love sharing our experience and work with students and are really happy when it works out well. Tell us in the comments section what you think about student placements. Over to Maeve...
During the first weekend of June, Venus accompanied the Sefton Play Council on a residential to Yorkshire at the popular Play Away resort for the weekend.
We had barely made our beds on Friday night before the kids were in the outdoor heated pool swimming and the staff having a long overdue cup of tea. The resort is surrounded by acres of green fields and even has a mini farm equipped with guinea pigs, rabbits and chickens where the kids spent many happy afternoons!
