Christmas information

As the festive season is fast approaching, we'd like to take this opportunity to tell you about our Christmassy plans at Venus, Our Place and our project in Halton.

The Venus Children's Christmas Party is from 1.30 - 3.30pm on Tuesday 22nd December 2015.  This party is for families who have received support from Venus in the last year.  If you would like to put your family's name down for the party then please call into Venus, or telephone us on 0151 474 4744.

Christmas at Our Place

Hi all! So it’s January and we’re all back in work, full of roast dinner and ready to take on 2015! However before we get on to the future, we’d just like to take a moment and look back on the Christmas season to say a MASSIVE thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, spread the word, came along and generally helped make Our Place’s first Christmas one to remember!

Staying in the Venus Web!

OOO we're excited that we've had a boss little postcard from our lovely Maeve who we miss loads and who remains part of the magical Venus Web despite being in sunny North Carolina in the USA!

As you know from previous blog posts and from visiting the Centre, (keep up those of you at the back!!) Maeve was a social work student placement who graduated this past summer (Congratulations Maeve, we knew you would do it!!) and has since travelled to the USA for lots of fun and adventure.

Venus Team Day!

Today our Centre is closed while we have a Team Day.  We have team days every month to catch up on policy reviews, undertake any activities or reviews that we need to do.  We have tried to update our IT systems this morning because we're in the process of implementing a new computer case management system and trying to be more efficient!  I have to admit I'm struggling a bit because I'm not computer-y but I'm perservering!  So, if you have any suggestions or you're interested in creating a video or taking pictures or anything like that for our social media then get involved!

Supposed to be shutdown!

So this is just a quick one because I'm trying to get used to updating you and having regular little chinwags with you through our website... today at Venus HQ we're supposed to be having a shutdown day.  What is a shutdown day I hear you ask?? Well we're supposed to take some time out from our normal schedules to tidy the building, catch up on filing and any odd jobs that need doing.  I've added a snap of my desk to give you an idea of the uphill struggle I face... sheesh no wonder George keeps going on at me to tidy up!

Catching up

Hello!

Just wanted to catch up and tell you about a few things we've been up to recently.  Clare has been using our Smiley Bus from the Morgan Foundation to take families on day trips through the Easter Holidays, last week a trip to the Safari Park went very well, this week we're looking forward to some splashy fun at Splash World in Southport!  Dawn, one of our social work students, is looking forward to donning her cozzi and getting her swim on!

Sefton Care Leavers' Centre Team Update

Sefton Care Leaver's Centre Team have had a change of staff recently, our colleague Alan Cunningham has left the team for pastures new and we wish him the very best of luck in his future endeavours, we hope he will stay in touch!  We'd like to take this opportunity to welcome our new Activity Worker to the Team, we're thrilled that David Fairclough has joined our Team and look forward to working with him.  David has lots of skills, experience and enthusiasm to bring to the team and we are really happy to have him onboard!
