We are delighted to announce that due to funding received from the Burbo Bank Extension Community Fund, we are now recruiting for the post outlined below,

Our Place – Sefton Care Leavers Project Support Worker

£10.02 per hour

We would like to appoint a support worker to provide support to looked after children and care leavers from age 14 to 25.  This practical and emotional support will cover a wide range of issues to help young people in their transition from care to independence.

Volunteering with Venus

As well as saving the world from debt one appointment at a time, our resident Money Management Wizard, Jo Hughes, also contributes to our volunteer training sessions to impart her wisdom and myriad tips and tricks so that our volunteers can confidently address these issues with the individuals they support.

One such training session happened this week at one of our Parent to Parent Volunteer training courses in Halton.  Jo facilitates the session to be informal, informative and accessible so that the scary issues of debt and budgeting seem less daunting.

Brilliant nomination news

News just in is that our lovely Chief Exec, Lorraine Webb, was nominated for the "Great Grown Up" Award in the YKids Believe Awards.  We're really pleased for Lorraine that her hard work and dedication to Children and Young People across Sefton has been recognised through this nomination and we'd like to wish Jan Clarke, Learning Mentor at The Hawthornes School hearty congratulations on her winning the Great Grown Up award at the ceremony held on 8th May.  You can find out more about the awards at www.thebelieveawards.co.uk.

Social Work Student Placements

So on the occasion of our latest student leaving us I thought I'd tell you a little bit about our students and how they help us deliver our services whilst we help them learn about their chosen field of study.  It's a boss mutually beneficial arrangement and it raises additional funds for us because Education Establishments like Liverpool John Moores University make a contribution to our Organisation to cover expenses and staff time.
